This morning Bean was listening to her brother talk about God and Jesus when she got very confused about why Jesus would die for us and what all that means. At first I tried the normal explanation of how He died as to take the punishment for our sins. She just looked at me like I was from outer space. Then I decided to try something more on her level...
I told her that "Jesus got the spanking for all the bad stuff we've done" - She totally understood that!
It made me laugh.
Oh geez, and I used that word... "spanking" - oh dear...
For all those who may hit up this post from a search engine, it is not a post about spanking and whether it is right or wrong. That was just an illustration I used with my daughter.
How sad is it that the world is so full of nut jobs that I would even need to write that previous paragraph?
Anyways.. my daughter makes me laugh, but I think she understands a little better now why Jesus died for us.
